Weaving Demonstrations

Local weavers will demonstrate both the twill and twine techniques of Coast Salish Weaving.

Film & Lecture with Susan Pavel

October 11, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Free with regular Museum admission

The 20 minute film will highlight the weaving process, from gathering plant material to weaving. The lecture will include the historical significance, revitalization efforts, and possible futures of Coast Salish Weaving. Question and answer period will be encouraged!

Family Day - Salish Weaving

November 1, Noon - 4:00 p.m.

Free with regular Museum admission

Join us for this hands-on adventure for the whole family. Try your hand at weaving on a Coast Salish loom, weave a greeting card for friends and family, attempt to identify raw weaving materials and have you photo taken in a woven blanket. Don’t miss the fun!
